Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has revealed that extremely disappointed to have spent the majority of last season on the sidelines. As a result, he was unable to prevent Tottenham from finishing in the third position, which would have guaranteed them Champions League football this season.
Even though Tottenham, inspired by Gareth Bale, finished in the fourth position, they were ultimately triumphed to the prospect of playing in the European competition by Chelsea, who won the Champions League title this season. Michael Dawson has made only 13 appearances during the season for Tottenham, which has been one of his worst.
Tottenham missed a number of crucial players in the second half of the season especially Michael Dawson. Due to the absence of Ledley King, the absence of Michael Dawson from the first team became even more enormous. As a result, they were unable to prevent the form from sliding in the last three months of the campaign.
As a result of missing out on the Champions League football, Tottenham will now face uncertain future with regard to the future of star midfielders Jack Wilshere and Gareth Bale. Dawson has said that he is hoping to be fit and ready for the upcoming season.
“I’ll admit that I’m not my normal outgoing self when I’m injured – particularly when it is as long term like this one has been. The medics here are great and they try to keep you positive as well as putting you right. But I find it so hard. The worst thing is hearing all the banter as the lads go out to train and being stuck behind. I’ve certainly got to know Tom Huddlestone a lot better because he’s hardly played at all last season so he’s had it even harder than me,” said Michael Dawson on the official site of the club.
