MICHAEL DAWSON BACKS BALE TO RETURN TO FORM AT TOTTENHAM

Former Tottenham captain Michael Dawson has backed Real Madrid loanee, Gareth Bale, to put his injury troubles behind him and come up clutch at Tottenham. Dawson and Bake both played for Spurs before the Welsh winger was snapped up by Real Madrid back in the 2013 summer transfer window for a then-world-record fee.

Bale became a frustrated figure at Real Madrid after falling out of favor with the Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane and was subsequently frozen out of the first team. After some months of sitting out games both in the league and Champions League fixtures, Bale finally found an escape route when his former club came knocking on Madrid’s door to take back their former star on loan.

MICHAEL DAWSON BACK IN FOREST TRAINING

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has been given an injury boost following the return to training of veteran defender Michael Dawson though the league game with Swansea City at the Forest Ground will come too soon for the ex-Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur centre back.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the English Championship meeting with Welsh club Swansea City, Chris Hughton told reporters that five of his injured players including Michael Dawson have returned to training. The ex-Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion manager also disclosed that the duo of Luke Freeman and Gaetan Bong didn’t train thereby ruling the two players out of the Swansea City game.

DAWSON BARES HIS MIND ON BALE RETURN

Former Spurs captain Michael Dawson has tagged the proposed return of Gareth Bale a “Heroes Return” and further said that the Welsh Winger’s return will give Jose Mourinho side a massive boost and perhaps present an upturn in fortune to the side that opened that premier league campaign with a loss at home to Everton.  The spurs icon said he is buzzing about Bale return to his former stomping ground.

The Welsh winger flew to the UK on Friday and was anticipated to hit Spurs Enfield training ground the same day to complete his loan switch from Real Madrid to Tottenham.

THE RIGHT BACKS MAN CITY COULD SIGN

Manchester City have struggled defensively this season. The loss of Aymeric Laporte did not help their course. Their league defense suffered immensely as soon as Laporte picked up a long-term injury earlier this season. Laporte returned to action earlier this year. But the Citizens are far behind Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the league. The right back position is where City have struggled the most. Kyle Walker and His Cancelo are excellent players, but the duo has failed to live up to expectations this season. There are reports that Cancelo will be sold at the end of the season. Manchester City are on the lookout for a replacement.

Here we take a look at the players that City could sign to help bolster their right backs.

Youcef Atal

Thé Nice right back who is also comfortable at wing back has been a revelation for his club this season. Hes a very accomplished tackler. He has a wealth of pace and is one of the best dribblers in world football today. Although there is a lot to be done on his final ball, working with Guardiola, that would be sorted out in no time.

GUARDIOLA DEFENDS JOHN STONES

Guardiola has come out to back his center back John Stones after the England international was accused by fans and haters alike for two of the three goals Wolverhampton Wanderers scored at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon.

Stones was signed with hopes that even if he does not reach the exact heights of Vincent Kompany, being the Citizen’s Michael Dawson would have been a welcomed development.

MICHAEL DAWSON BACKS POCHETTINO

Mauricio Pochettino is realizing that at every point in time, your current result is all that matters and even if what you’ve achieved the previous day is more impressive than Elon Musk’s continuous attempt to place a man on the moon, inability to replicate it the very next day is enough to see people call for your head.

The Argentine coach led Spurs to last season’s Champions League final where they lost to a more experienced Liverpool team and yet the slow start to this season’s Premier League campaign has seen people question his importance to the club.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST BEST DEFENSIVE PAIRING

The transfer window saw a slew of signings arrive Nottingham Forest with coach SabriLamouchi tasked with returning the club to the Premier League. Forest fans have dreamt of the lure of the Premier League and this could be the year.

One area where Lamouchi has made reinforcement is in the defence. The goalkeeping position sees four quality Championship grade stoppers vying for a single slot.

DON’T DWELL ON IT

Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t want his boys to bother themselves too much about the Premiership game yesterday which didn’t go according to the plan for the Spurs.

While that was a big game, there is an even bigger one coming up next as they are going to lock horns with the visiting Ajax in the first leg of the Round of 4 of the European Cup in a couple of days’ time. That is supposed to be the biggest match that the club will play in about five decades and Pochettino wants his boys in the right frame of mind ahead of that mega clash.

MICHAEL DAWSON A LOOK AT HIS CAREER

Michael Dawson is a player whose career would be seen as what could have been if not for injuries. The Nottingham Forest defender is one of the players that have been forgotten on recent years despite his brilliant stint in the Premier League.

Just under a decade ago in 2010 the then Tottenham defender was voted the club’s player of the season for his excellent performances. During that period Dawson was considered one of the best defenders in the league.

FOREST MISS MICHAEL DAWSON

Nottingham Forest were largely underwhelming against Norwich City as the effect of losing Michael Dawson to injury was laid bare for us to see. The defender has been a big miss for his club as he continues his spell on the sidelines.

Forest should have seen off the challenge of Norwich City with Dawson in that team. The defender is known to be a leader who marshals the defense pretty well and indeed the whole team.
